Artist biography

Shefqet Avdush Emini I was born in Davidovc - Kosovo. I currently live and work in Holland, after having graduated from the Fine Art Academy in Prishtina, Kosovo. I have work as a lecturer but always been occupied by my painting and sculpture, I now work as a professional artist. The artist describes my work as "figurative abstract expressionism" and incorporates a vibrant palette and a layering of colour. I use oil on canvas to create my expressive pieces that blur abstraction with figurative elements. My works are often bold in their use of colour and brushstrokes. I have exhibited in Sweden, Denmark, Austria, The Netherlands, Germany and Italy in both group and solo exhibitions.Member of Galerie Sigvardson Denemark as from 2008 Foundation Symbiose Sittard as from 2003; Foundation art centre keeps out 2003; AIDA as from 1994 Stichting Kunstcentrum Weert as from 2003; Artist figurative association of the Kosovo as from1989; President of the foundation 'Zef Kolombi ' Ferziaj Kosovo as from 1988-1992 Member of foundation art centre ' Zef Kolombi ' Ferziaj Kosovo as from 1982.

So...How do you Become a Famous Artist?
maryfreiberg- (View My Portfolio)
4/5/2008

How do famous artists become famous?  Is it money? Is it who you know?  Is it the environment? - the town you live in? or just the right place at the right time?

There have been some artists that I don't particularly think should have become well-known since I didn't appreciate their work.  Or... if you do one or two masterpieces - everthing else done by them is acceptable?

I think, down deep, we all want to be famous and know that we left a mark on our world.  The older I get, the more important it is for me to feel that I have made my mark.  My biggest passion in life has been creativity.  I have created almost every aspect in the form of art that I can, and I still feel that I am not there where I want to be.  I am bothered that I have not become well-known (in the art world) and frustrated that the pieces I do, do not seem perfect enough.  Much of the time I am not satisfied and yet I am hungry to create more.  I dream about it at night.  I see beautiful paintings in my sleep - if I could only get to the canvas before I forget...

So, am I the only artist out there that has this un-ending passion that cannot be satisfied?

I would like to be in more shows, but live a day away from New York.  My art would probably never be appreciated in my area (Michigan). People here like to see nice nature paintings...animals...flowers.  Workshops from well-known artists don't seem to make it for me, either.  I don't want to develop their style.  I want my own.

Any suggestions for a struggling, passionate Artist?

Here's the quote to go with it:

And I will show you something different from either Your shadow at morning striding behind you, Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you I will show you fear in a handful of dust.
T.S. Eliot (1888 - 1965)

 ***

Good Morning After eat all you can day. We had a feast to beat all feasts. Mate Man cooked all day and fed us to the falling over point, it was fantastic! I hope you all had good times too. This is the first of the three works I did over the coarse of three days. I had to wait for the knife work to dry on this one so I could fix what I saw was wrong. I really like him now...and I am enjoying the map my mind is making for me to follow. When I paint my best work happens when i don't have a plan, just a little idea and then i just relax, and play with what happens. (little i's on purpose) I like these three because they are just that, (scroll down one post for the other two) from my inner eye, no prompting, no reference pictures or muses, just me...doing what I wanted to do. Ahhhh, it's like a day at the spa, or getting a thorn out after a while of painful squeezing. I like the spa metaphor better today. Any way I have no clients today...and I would never go out into the Black Friday Greed-a-thon crap-ola that is going on today...so it's just me and the kids playing board games and sneaking pie for breakfast. Yum. Have a good one all, and tell me what you think of this new work...I find it so helpful to see work through fresh eyes.

Grins and giggles,

 Heather

Derek McCrea's November 2007 Artists Newsletter

I just got completed with my latest commission last night. It was an old barn house. I tried a few techniques on this work I never had tried before. I wanted the image to be a pen and ink but wanted the ink to be very dark, bold and have thick strokes, not my usual pen and ink technique. So I started out drawing this work in pencil and then took a "SHARPEE MARKER"...not the conventional artist's tool and went to work on this 12 x 16 drawing attached.

Then after completing that I checked my email and found that my article I submitted for the magazine, "Watercolour Gazette" out of Canada is being published and they are sending me some copies of it in the November/December issue.  Some of the article is shown below excluding images and step by step painting instructions in my lesson in the magazine:

Lessons learned throughout over 25 years of painting include:
1. Never paint when you are not inspired.
2. Try to visualize what you want to paint before you paint the subject and imagine a finished product and what steps you will take to get there.
3. For larger and more detailed works draw the image on the canvas first with light pencil.
4. Establish your own style but learn from others. Experiment with creating art using individual techniques beginning with smaller less detailed images and working your way up.
5. Techniques I have learned to use and call my own include:
- Use of splatter to create depth
- Use of charcoal on finished products to add texture and shadows
- Wet on wet, let the watercolors do their magic, sometimes watercolors when wet on wet create effects that make you say, "How did I do that?"
- Try not to use too much paint, start out with lighter colors and add layers of darker colors. Too much watercolor paint creates a mess that you can not fix. That is the difference between watercolors and other mediums that can be repaired by "painting over".
- Use Art Trading Cards to practice your larger images before painting them large. This way if you make a mistake it will be on a small piece of paper and you can apply that lesson to your larger work.
- I have seen different techniques for holding the watercolor paper to your background for paintings, including stapling down the sides of the work. I prefer to use masking tape around the entire edges of my paintings. This also aids buyers to mat the painting with ½ inch edges all the way around the circumference of the painting.
My career is as a Soldier. My two hobbies include painting and offshore fishing. Both of which are very relaxing and allow me to express myself.  Creating art for me is a way of life. Something I enjoy.

I attached my latest commission work to this email.

Also mid to end of October I worked on an artwork illustration for Perception Pro, who is using the image for advertising, banners, etc. look at a preview of their up and coming business site here:

http://www.xanderbean.com/per_pro/

Thanks for being a fan of my art.

I promise to keep creating as long as I have a breath left in me.

Sincerely,
Derek McCrea

My name is Scott Robinson.

I am fairly new to no.1 artist. Since moving to Chicago I've been working on a series of black and white paintings of city architecture. They are true monochromatic paintings. Black acrylic paint on a white canvas. Stop by my "About me" page to see the next work in progress also stop by "My Art" to see additional photos of this painting and others I've done. Let me know what you think. And if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks, Scott~

Mother Angelica  "Nun of the Media" an original oil painting by Catholic Artist Mark Sanislo of Minneapolis Minnesota.

Mother Angelica "Nun of the Media" by Artist Mark Sanislo

In 1981 a cloistered nun named Mother Angelica, using merely entrepreneurial instincts and a steadfast faith in God created what would become the world's largest religious media empire in the garage of a her monastery located in the hills of  Birmingham, Al.

The Eternal Television Network grew at a staggering pace, both in people tuning in and in sharing the message of God, to where it now reaches over a hundred million viewers in hundreds of countries around the globe.

This portrait "Nun of the Media" tries to capture the story of this extraordinary nun, Mother Angelica, who is known and loved by the many that tune into "Mother Angelica Live" on the EWTN Network.

The portrait also manifests the power of prayer which comes from the Poor Clare Nuns of Perpetual Adoration who have backed up Mother's global media work. Mother herself is seen at the switchboard of Eternal Word Television Network with her Rosary in hand.

The painting also encompasses the satellite dishes and shortwave radio towers of EWTN that make it Global Catholic Network.

Behind the nuns, in the center of the piazza stands  the The Monument of the Divine Child Jesus (El Divino Niño).   It Serves as a symbol of the eager love of our God, the Child Jesus offers His Heart to all who approach Him, "Prophecy of Isaiah (11:6): ". and a little Child shall lead them"

Behind El Divino Niño is the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, a Temple consecrated to Almighty God, open to people of all faiths.

Visitors often remark that this Temple is "a true oasis of silence and peace."  Mother Angelica explains that  "when you come into the Temple you are in the Presence of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit."  She prays that each person who enters will be aware of this great and wonderful reality

The original oil painting can be seen by the public, down in Hanceville, AL at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament.

Tina Cross, born and educated in Cedar Rapids, Iowa is an alumna of Coe College.  As an intern for Peter Max in New York City in 1993, Tina was inspired to become a fine artist. Years later, now in Denver, Tina enjoys selling independently.  To own a piece means to have something special in your home to enjoy for years to come and will never compromise in style.
