Hello out there!!!!

Art has always been my # one love.  I really wanted to make a living doing oil paintings so when I was still in college I decided to go to New Orleans to see if I could sell my paintings there and try to survive.  I found that trying to sell what I wanted was not going to work.  People wanted what they wanted. So I learned to do pastel portraits of people in Jackson Square. That was a bit much. I enjoy animal pastels much more. I have decided to try again to work making money doing something I love.  If you have a pet you love as much as I love mine please send me a photo and I will send you a full color original pastel  rendering of your "baby".  More samples to follow.

I just noticed how different my style and artistic style is from everyone else on here. Which is fine, I like many types of art no matter what they pertain to. I wonder though how well my stuff would go over. Ah well, no real worries I suppose, the same thing happened to me on everchangingart and people still liked it.

I'm heavy on expression, if an art peice doesn't speak to me or doesn't make me feel or think, then I get bored. No offense, I'm just stating my opinion. I think art should make people feel, think, should incite some sort of story or imagination in the viewers rather than just be pretty. Maybe that's why I'm so into drawing the things I do, because I like the way the characters make me feel and how they make others feel and express themselves. They become something real and a part of me.

 That's my two cents today,

Tabikat~

  • First off, I'm Carman. I've been drawing for as long as I can remember, and if I have past lives, I'm pretty sure they were mostly spent drawing also. I don't really remember how I started, but I remember looking around at everything, and imagining it... different. I'd morph reality into a twisted fantasy, and change it into the coolest things that came to mind.
  • Second, after just a few years back, I began to be able to center my mind on the people I was drawing. For example, two of the drawings that I've made in the past week of friends I know. I see them every day, but the drawings look nothing like them. They have dragon wings and spikes, demon tails, and blue skin. They're brothers, so they kind of look alike. The only real connection between them and the real life version of them, is the hair style, which is also off. I let my mind flow, block out everything, and go on it's own. I don't even think about what I'm doing. Half the time, I'm not looking at the paper, I'm daydreaming; About completely different things.
  • I know that it takes more than a scribble to get into nice places like this. I'm glad I got the e-mail for this place, or I'd never be here. It looks nice, and I just arrived. I also know, to make it with the big-shots, I have to work hard, and possibly concentrate on my work. Problem is, when I concentrate, I always seem to do a lot less of a good job than I do otherwise. I need to work on that. Also, I'm going to work into realism of my characters, and objects. I've gotten it down for some types of demons and wolves, but nothing else.
  • Well, I seem to have wrote a lot, and I don't want to waste your time. I hope you see my work when I get it published here! And please, don't hesitate to ask me about anything. I'll gladly answer. Thank you for your time, and keep up the good work that got you here!
